Every game available to the players at an online blackjack table is scripted to assure a steady stream of profit for the site. Some online casino games like slots, keno and roulette give the house such a dramatic mathematical advantage, it\'s cheaper than actually printing money.
In online blackjack, the house has a small advantage, around .60% or less than one out of a hundred. That\'s according to strict math, assuming every player makes the correct play every time. In the virtual world, online casinos and online poker sites do great business at online blackjack because most players don\'t make the best moves all the time.
The card counter, though, by playing basic strategy and knowing the relationship between high cards and low cards in the deck, shifts the odds in his favor. A skilled card counter can do to online blackjack what cannot be done to any other online card game - make it mathematically more likely that the player will win.
You have two very large problems if you think you would like to be a card counter. First - it\'s really hard. If you don\'t have an extraordinary mind, capable of juggling numbers at eye-blink speed, if you don\'t have nerves of steel and if you can\'t concentrate when chaos is being orchestrated around you, card counting is probably not an option.
Secondly, online casinos know how to spot a card counter. He\'s the one winning constantly, playing for $100 a hand or more and varying his bets according to how \'rich\' he thinks the deck is.
To a card counter, \'rich \' means a deck with more high cards than usual. When the deck is rich in tens and faces, a player using basic strategy, doubling down every possibility and splitting pairs can and will beat the dealer. The online casinos know this. Not only will they ban a card counter from their site, but they will share his information with all the other online casinos.
So let\'s count cards, but not look as if that\'s what we\'re doing. Oh, and let\'s make it easy.
Here\'s how:
After each hand of online blackjack, look at all the exposed cards. It should be simple to see if there are more high cards than low. Make a mental note - 1-0 high cards. Do the same after the second hand, then the third.
Midway through the shoe, you may have a score of 7-3 for the high cards. That means more high cards have been dealt and the deck is weak for you. Stop playing and find another table because the house has a bigger edge.
But if you get to a point where your score is say 10-3 for the low cards, not only should you stay to the end of the shoe, you should increase your bet.
This technique will only work for you if you play very strict basic strategy. If you google: blackjack basic strategy you will easily find the chart that tells you the correct move for every circumstance.
