What We Say:
Launched in May 2005, PokerCS.com is an innovative, independent poker room making a serious play for a share of the online poker market. The software is passable but needs a few updates to really work as smoothly as we require. The player volume is below standard given that they are relatively new to the scene, but growing rapidly. Game variety at PokerCS.com leaves a lot to be desired, with only Texas Hold'em and Omaha High offered. There are quite a few high value promotions at PokerCS.com, new depositor freerolls & the Aussie Millions satellites among them. PokerCS.com currently has 4000 ring game players at peak hours and 6000 tournament players (May 2008).
PokerCS Software and graphics: A-
PokerCS's software and player base is unique in that have built both their own software as well as their own network. These graphics are nice and clear and the functionality is moderately good. Poker.com's lobby offers music, stats like instant hand histories, wins, average pot, hands player per hour, and viewed flop percentage, and a note-taking function, with options like the ability to tag players "sharks" or "fish." There are some minor glitches that make PokerCS software fall short of the industry standard, though the play is still decent.
PokerCS Ring game traffic: C+
PokerCS currently has on average 4000 ring game players at peak hours (May 2008).
Poker.com Tournament traffic: C+
PokerCS traffic at tournaments is higher than at cash games, where real money traffic can reach somewhere between 6,000 players at peak hours (May 2008).
PokerCS Game variety: B+
PokerCS has a lot of game variety, with only Texas Hold'em, Omaha High/Lo, HORSE, Razz, 7-card stud, 5-card stud, Aces to 5 lowball, deuce to 7 lowball, Blackjack, & Badugi offered. These are available in limit, pot-limit, and no-limit. Table stakes vary from $0.01/$0.02 to $30/$60 in the fixed games, and $0.02/$0.04 up to $25/$50 in no-limit versions.
PokerCS Rake: B+
The rake at PokerCS is actually better than industry standard. The general policy is the customary 5% rake taken in increments of up to $3. But on several types of tables there are lower max rakes. On fixed limit tables from $0.10/$0.20 there is no rake. All tables with 2-3 players from $2/$4 and up have a max rake of $1, 4-5 player tables have a $2 max rake, and 6-10 player tables have a $3 max rake. No-limit and pot-limit games have a 5% rake with a max of $1 for 2-3 handed, $2 for 4-5 handed, and $3 for 6-10 handed games. There is a "no flop - no drop" policy for hands not reaching the flop.
PokerCS competition: A-
PokerCS has quite a few soft games. Most of the volume is in the micro limit and no-limit Texas Hold'em games where the view flop percentage averages in the 40's and 50's. Lots of fish.
PokerCS Sign up bonus: B+
The PokerCS sign-up bonus is 100% deposit match up to $500 plus an entry ina $1000 new-depositors freeroll, plus an entry every day for two weeks into $500 freerolls. Not bad. Deposit bonus requirements: $1 paid per 250 comp points, bonus paid in $10 increments, remaining bonus expires on withdrawal
PokerCS Promotions: B+
There are quite a few high value promotions at PokerCS. Most notably the Bounty Grand Master tournaments, Royal Flush Bonus (score a royal flush and get $100x the big blind). Satellites for major live tournaments are continously offered.
PokerCS Customer Support: C+
PokerCS offers email support only. Support claims 24/7 availablity, but out of our 4 sample emails, only two were answered, and the responses came in at 4 hours and 36 hours. While the reps are knowledgeable and friendly, the response times leave much to be desired.
PokerCS Financial security: C-
PokerCS is a newer room and so does not have a history adequate to receive a grade in this category. It is a well-run operation with no recorded problems to date. Our estimation of the company so far, our knowledge of the operators' prior reputations, and our knowledge of the financial allows us to say with confidence that Poker.com is fincancially secure.
